About Us

We are a student run not-for-profit co-operative shop in the University of York. Our mission is to provide healthy, ethical and local goods to our members on a student budget. We sell all of our products at the price we buy them, which means that in some cases they are two to three times cheaper than you'll find in a supermarket. SCOOP is open twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays and run a stall in Market Square on the second Friday of every month.

Our products include:
- White and wholegrain organic pasta
- Dried beans, chickpeas and lentils
- Rice and other grains
- Speciality flours
- Canned beans, chickpeas, sweetcorn and tomato
- Vegan snacks and chocolate
- Non-dairy milks, including soya, rice, almond, coconut and hemp
- A range of speciality teas and fairtrade coffee
- Dried fruit and nuts
- Herbs and spices
- Locally produced soaps and other toiletries
- Mooncups and reusable sanitary towels
- Weekly veg bags from Goodness Growing, a local farm
- Locally made jams and chutneys
- Peanut and almond butter and vegan chocolate spreads
- Rapeseed, olive and coconut oils

SCOOP is a membership-based co-operative. Membership costs £5 for one year, which can be exchanged at the end of the year for £5 of stock. Members have full access to:

Membership also allows us to be ratified as a society, giving us access to a room on campus and funding from YUSU in the form of yearly grants.
